Hike - Crest Ridge Ecological Reserve - Nov 2, 2016
My weekly hiking group went to the Crest Ridge Ecological Reserve on November 2, 2016. It was a cool crisp clear morning - perfect for hiking.
There were about 30 hikers this week. I had missed the last two weeks while we were in Houston for Elizabeth's wedding.
This started out as a fairly easy hike, but then our leader Amy saw a water tank at the top of a hill and made that our goal. The going got a bit steep and rough in patches as we made it up the hill. Fortunately, I had my hiking poles, but my larger concern is the reality that we'd need to come back down the hill...which is much rougher on my knee than going up hill.
The views from the top of the hill were grand and weather still beautiful. Fortunately, while we back-tracked on some of the same paths that we came up, there was an alternate for the rest of the return that was fairly easy.
It was a good morning hike. Looking forward to next Wednesday's adventure!
